Sayings of Imam Ali

Ø As the body becomes tired, the heart becomes tired too. You should therefore search for beautiful sayings for them. [To enjoy by way of refreshment].

Ø He who does not know his own worth is ruined.

Ø The worth of every man is in his attainment.

Ø The worth of a man is according to his courage, his truthfulness is according to his balance of temper, his valour is according to his self - respect, and his chasteness is according to his sense of shame.

Ø A self-respecting person never commits adultery.

Ø He who puts himself in condition of ill repute should not blame those who entertain bad ideas about him.

Ø If a person has good idea about you, make his idea be true.

Ø It is enough for your own discipline that you refrain from what you dislike from others.

Ø Loving one another is half of wisdom.

Ø The most unfortunate of all men is he who cannot find a few friends during his lifetime, but still more unfortunate is he who finds one but loses him [because of his behaviour].

Ø Treat people in such a way and live amongst them in such a manner that if you die they weep over you and if you live they crave for your company.

Ø Through change of circumstances, mettle of man is known.

Ø To keep silent when you can say something wise and useful is as bad as propagating foolish and unwise thought.

Ø If you want to remove evil from the minds of others, then first give up evil intentions yourself.

Ø If you are wished and saluted then return the wish in the most appropriate manner, if you are favoured then repay the obligation manifold: but he will always excel in merit who takes the initiative.

Ø Blindness of eyes is better than the blindness of mind.

Ø Keep in company of people of virtue; you will become one of them. Keep aloof from people of vice; you will remain safe from them.

Ø Do not close a door that you are unable to open.

Ø A man can be valued through his sayings.

Ø One who seeks advice learns to recognise mistakes.

Ø As long as your position is good, your defects will be hidden from the eyes of the world.

Ø A man’s worth depends on the nobility of his aspirations.

Ø The most complete gift of God is life based on knowledge.

Ø The best of men is he who benefits others.

Ø Speech is like medicine; a small dose of which cures and excess kills the patient.

Ø People are asleep when alive; they are awake only when they are dead.

Ø The chief aim of wisdom is to admit one’s ignorance.

Ø The wise aim at perfection.

Ø There is no disease more hopeless than want of wisdom.

Ø To be good to the good is goodness in its highest sense.

Ø The choicest work of man is to associate with the virtuous.

Ø Live with your body in this world and with your faith work for the next

Ø The strongest of men is he who subdues his passion.

Ø How incongruous to have a sickly spirit and a handsome body.

Ø To fight against one’s own desires is highest wisdom.

Ø Fear none but your own sin.

Ø The dead supply lessons for the living.

Ø He is a true adviser who points out your mistakes.

Ø One’s behavior is the index of one’s mind.

Ø Let good deeds be your companions and desires your enemies.

Ø Care for your parents and your children will care for you.

Ø He who bears tales to you certainly bears tales about you.

Ø In overwhelming difficulties a man’s greatness is disclosed.

Ø Prosperity consists not in the increase of money and children, but in growth of virtue and development of patience.

Ø Minds are locked-up stores, only questions open them.

Ø The real gainer is he who checks the items of his own life.

Ø Knowledge is better than wealth. Knowledge guards you while you have to guard wealth. Wealth decreases by spending while knowledge increases by spending, and the results of wealth die as wealth decay. With it a man acquires obedience during his lifetime and a good name after his death. Knowledge is a ruler while wealth is ruled upon.

Ø Acquire knowledge, because he who acquires it, in the way of the Lord, performs an act of piety; who speaks of it praises the Lord; who seeks it, adores God, who dispenses instruction in it, bestows alms; and who imparts it to its fitting objects, performs an act of devotion to God. Knowledge enables its possessor to distinguish what is forbidden from what is not; lights the way to Heaven; it is our friend in the desert, our companion in solitude, our companion, when bereft of friends; it guides us to happiness; it sustains us in misery; it is our ornament in the company of friends; it serves as an armour against our enemies. With knowledge, the creatures of Allah rise to the heights of goodness and to noble position, associates with the sovereigns in this world and attains the perfection of happiness in the next.

Ø There is no greater wealth than wisdom, no greater poverty than ignorance, no greater heritage than culture, and no greater friend and helpmate than consultation.

Ø Whoever wants to be a leader and a guide should educate himself before educating others; before teaching morality to others, he should improve his own morals and character. Whoever educates himself and improves his own morals and character is superior to the person who tries to teach and train others.

Ø A man without mind is not a man and a mind without religion is worst than the instinct of a beast, more harmful, more dangerous and more carnivorous. Devotion without understanding will not bring blessings of God; it is useless.

Ø I wonder at the proud man who was just a drop of semen the other day and will turn into a corpse tomorrow. I wonder at the man who doubts existence of God although he sees His creations. I wonder at him who has forgotten death although he sees people dying. I wonder at him who denies the second life although he has seen the first life. I wonder at him who inhabits this transient abode but ignores the ever-lasting abode.

Ø When a community is composed of really honest, sober and virtuous people then your forming bad opinion about any one of its member when nothing wicked has been seen of him is a great injustice to him; on the contrary in a corrupt society, to form good opinion of anyone out of those people and trust him is doing harm to yourself.

Ø One who assents or subscribes to the actions of group or party is as good as if he has committed the deed himself. A man who joins sinful deeds makes himself responsible for twofold punishment; one for doing the deed and the other for assenting or subscribing to it.

Ø In man there is a piece of flesh attached to him. It is the heart. It has wisdom and things contrary to wisdom. If he sees a ray of hope, eagerness humiliates it and when eagerness increases, greed ruins it. If disappointment overtakes it, grief kills it. If anger rises in it, a serious rage develops. If it is blessed with pleasure, it forgets to be cautious. If it becomes fearing, it becomes heedless. If peace extends all round, it becomes neglectful. If it earns wealth, freedom from ease puts it in the wrong. If trouble befalls it, impatience makes it humble. If it faces starvation, distress overtakes it. If its eating increases, heaviness of stomach pains it. Thus, every shortness is harmful to it and every excess is injurious to it.

Ø I define Islam for you in a way that nobody dare do it before me. Islam means obedience to God; obedience to God means having sincere faith in Him; such a faith means to believe in His power; a belief in His power means recognizing and accepting His Majesty; accepting His Majesty means fulfilling the obligations laid down by Him; and fulfilment of obligations means actions. [Therefore, Islam does not mean mere faith, but faith plus deeds].

SAYINGS OF IMAM ALI, THE SON-IN-LAW AND ALSO THE FIRST OF THE TWELVE RIGHTFUL SUCCESSORS OF THE HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD. [PEACE AND BLESSINGS BE UPON HIM AND HIS FAMILY].

Anta rabbul-mustad'afeen

To You we complain of our weakness, our failure, our shame before the people. O Most Merciful! You are the Lord of the weak and oppressed.

Wa anta rabbuna, ila man takiluna, ila ba'eedin yatajahharuna, wa ila 'aduwwin mallaktahu amrana, in lam yakun bika ghadabun 'alaynaa fala nubaali, ghayra anna 'afiyataka hiya awsa'u lana.

And You are our Lord, to whom will you entrust us? To a distant person who will treat us with enmity or to an enemy You have made over us. If You are not angry at us, we would not care, for Your pardon is greater for us.

We seek refuge in the Light of Your Face for which darknesses shine, and with which the affairs of this life and the Hereafter become good, from Your anger or displeasure fall upon us. You have the right to admonish until You are pleased, and there is no power and no might except in You.

Fa ilayka nashku da'fana, fa ilayka nashku da'fana

So to You we complain of our weakness, to You we complain of our weakness.

Allahumma hadhihi roosiya ja’at bi jayshiha wa hadeediha, bi dhulmiha wa fakhriha, ja’at tuhadduka wa tukadhdhibu rasoolaka, wa tuqattilul-mustad'afina minal-mu’mineena fish-sheeshan.

O Allah! Roosiya came with her army and iron, with her oppression and arrogance, she came to challenge You and deny Your Messenger, and to slaughter the weak and oppressed believers in Sheeshan.

Allahumma anjiz lahum ma wa'adtahum, Allahumma anjiz lahum maa wa'adtahum, Allahumma anjiz lahum ma wa'adtahum fee kitabik.

O Allah! Bring about what You promised them. O Allah! Bring about what You promised them. O Allah! Bring about what You promised them in Your Book.

Allahumma innana nanshudu 'ahdaka wa wa'dak. Allahumma anzil nasraka wa ta’yidak, anta 'adeeduhum, wa anta naseeruhum, wa bika yuqatiloon.

O Allah! We seek Your protection and Your promise. O Allah! Bring down Your help and support, You are their helper and supporter, and for You they will fight.

Allahumma innahum maghloobuna fantasir lahum.

O Allah! They are helpless, so help them.

Rabbana afrigh 'alayhim sabran wa thabbit aqdamahum wansurhum 'alal-qawmil-kafireen.

Our Lord! Pour upon them patience, make them steadfast, and grant them victory over the Disbelivers.

Allahumma makkir lahum, wakfihim bimaa shi’t. In tansurhum falaa ghaliba lahum, wa in takhdhulhum fa man dhal-ladh' yansurhum min ba'dika.

O Allah! Plot for them, and suffice them with what You please, if You support them then nobody can overpower them, and if You forsake them, then who will be able to support them after You?

La ilaha illAllahul adhimul-haleem. La ilaha illAllahu, rabbul-arshil-adheem. La ilaha illAllahu rabbus-samawaati wa rabbul-ardi wa rabbul-arshil-kareem.

There is no God but Allah, the Mighty the Forebearing, there is no God but Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne, There is no God but Allah, Lord of the Heavens and Lord of the Earth and Lord of the Noble Throne.

Allahumma anjil-mustadafeena minal-mu’mineena fish-sheeshaan. Allahumma anjil-mustadafeena minal-mu’mineena fish-sheeshaan. Allahumma anjil-mustadafeena minal-mu’mineena fish-sheeshaan. Allahummash-dud wata’ataka ala roosiya, Allahummaj-alha 'alayhim sineena ka sineeni yusuf

O Allah! Help the weak and oppressed believers in Sheeshan. O Allah! Help the weak and oppressed believers in Sheeshan. O Allah! Help the weak and oppressed believers in Sheeshan. O Allah! increase Your force against Roosiya.

O Allah! annihilate them with Your authority and power, O Allah! Let all they have done be done to them. O Allah! show us their black day.

Allahumma shattit shamlahum, wa mazziq jam'ahum, wa kharrib diyarahum, wa dammir aslihatahum. Allahumma anzil 'alayhimul-a'aseeral-mudammira wal-amradal-fattaaka

O Allah! Disperse their gatherings and shatter their unity, demolish their houses, destroy their weapons. O Allah! Send upon them destructive hurricanes, and fatal diseases.

Allahumma ahsihim adada, waqtul-hum badada, wa la tughadir minhum ahada, waj'alhum ibratan li amthalihim minal-yahudi wan-nasaara wal-mushrikeena adhillatan saaghireen

O Allah! Count them and kill them selectively, and do not leave a single one of them, and make them an example for their likes among the yahuudi, nasaara, and mushriks, humiliated and abased.

O Allah! We want Your help against them and seek Your protection against their atrocities.

Oh Allah! Revealer of The Book, Controller and Dominator of the clouds, Defeater of the armies of Your enemies…defeat them and make the ground shake beneath their feet, and show us in them the wonders of Your Might, for they are weak before You. O Mighty, O Powerful!.

My Mother

really these lyrics are meaningful.

Blessed is your face
Blessed is your name
My beloved
Blessed is your smile
Which makes my soul want to fly
My beloved
All the nights
And all the times
That you cared for me
But I never realised it
And now it’s too late
Forgive me

Now I’m alone filled with so much shame
For all the years I caused you pain
If only I could sleep in your arms again
Mother I’m lost without you

You were the sun that brightened my day
Now who’s going to wipe my tears away
If only I knew what I know today
Mother I’m lost without you

----------

Mother... Mother... O my mother
How I long to see O mother
“Your mother, Your mother, Your mother”
Is the saying of your Prophet
In my heart, in my dreams
You are always with me mother

You went and left me
O light of my eyes
O comfort of my nights
You went and left me
Who, other than you, will embrace me?
Who, other than you, will cover me?
Who, other than you, will guard over me?
Your pardon mother, forgive me

He who walks towards Me, I rush towards him

Abu Dharr (Radi Allah Anhu) reported Allah's Messenger (sal-allahu- alleihi-wasallam ) as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, stated:

"He who comes with goodness, there are in store for him ten like those and even more than those: 'And he who comes with vice, ' it is only for that that he is called to account. I even forgive him (as I like) and he who draws close to Me by the span of a palm I draw close to him by the cubit, and he who draws close to Me by the cubit I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two hands, and he who walks towards Me I rush towards him, and he who meets Me in the state that his sins fill the earth, but not associating anything with Me, I would meet Him with the same (vastness) of pardon (on My behalf)."

[Sahih Muslim : Book 35 Kitab Al-Dhikr, Number 6499]

Three things Man always receives after his death

And spend in the way of Allah and cast not yourselves to perdition with your own hands, and do good (to others); surely Allah loves the doers of go.
Surah Al-Baqarah : Ayah 195

Abu Huraira (Radi Allah Anhu) reported Allah's Messenger (sal-allahu- alleihi-wasallam ) as saying:
"When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three,
1. Recurring charity,
2. Or knowledge (by which people) benefit,
3. Or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased)."

Fatwa on Choosing a husband

Question:

What are the most important considerations a young lady should make when choosing a husband? If she refuses someone simply for economic or worldly reasons, will that expose her to the punishment of Allah?

Response:

The most important attributes that a woman must look for in selecting a husband are character and piety. Wealth and lineage are secondary considerations. The most important aspect is that the proposed groom be a person of piety and proper behavior. The person of proper behavior and piety will not do his wife wrong. Either he will keep her in a way that is proper or he will leave her to go free in the best way. Furthermore, the person of religion and behavior may be a blessing for her and her children. She may learn manners and religion from him. If he does not have those characteristics, she should stay away from him, especially if he is one of those who is lax with respect to performing the prayers or if he is known to drink alcohol, may Allah save us. As for those who never pray, they are disbelievers. Believing women are not permissible for them nor are they permissible for the believing women. The important point is that the woman should stress character and piety. If he is also of a noble lineage, that is to be preferred. This is due to the Messenger of Allah's (peace be upon him) statement,

"If a person whose religion and character you approve of comes to you, then marry him."

However, if he is also suitable [in other ways, such as economics standing and so forth], that is better.

would like to share an email recieved today...

My mother used to ask me what the most important part of the body is.

Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct Answer.

When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, 'My ears, Mommy.'

She said, 'No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon.'

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer.

So this time I told her, 'Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes.'

She looked at me and told me, 'You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind.'

Stumped again, I continued my quest for knowledge and over the years,
Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, 'No. But you are getting smarter every year, my child.'

Then one year, my grandfather died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Even my father cried. I remember that especially because it was only the second time I saw him cry.

My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to my Grandfather. She asked me, 'Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?' I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me..

She saw the confusion on my face and told me, 'This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived in your life. For every body part you gave me in the past, I have told you were wrong and I have given you an example why.

But today is the day you need to learn this important lesson.'

She looked down at me as only a mother can. I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, 'My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder.'

I asked, 'Is it because it holds up my head?'

She replied, 'No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometime in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it.'

Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is made for others and not for yourself. It is sympathetic to the pain of others.

People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did . But people will NEVER forget how you made them feel.

The most Intelligent

Baraa Bin Aazib (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that Allah Ta`ala will award the highest places in Jannat to certain of His servants who were the most intelligent. The Sahaabah enquired: "How did they become the most intelligent?" Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:

"Their whole attention and all their efforts are directed towards Allah Ta`ala. The objective of all their efforts is Allah's Pleasure. They have completely lost interest in the world, in its futility, in its pleasures and comforts. The world is contemptible to them. They choose to bear the temporary hardships of the world, hence they will gain the everlasting comfort (of the Aakhirah)."

The criterion of intelligence by Allah is Taqwa.

Refrain the Friendship of Four persons

Hadhrat Baqir (rahmatullahi alayh) narrates:

"My father (Hadhrat Zainul Aabideen) instructed me not to associate with four types of people.

(1) A fasiq. He will betray you for a morsel of food.

(2) A liar. He will deceive you.

(3) A stupid man. He will harm you even if he does something with a good intention.

(4) A person who severs family ties. He is described as a Ma'loon (accursed) in three places in the Qur`aan Shareef ."

Stories of the Quraan

The Glorious Qur'an, recounts a number of stories that took place throughout far-remote points of history which are full of events that one's eyes and mind cannot fail to grasp its admonition and advice. These admonitions and advice, if seriously considered, can verify and restore to the right course a great number of false beliefs and concepts. Allah the Almighty says: {Thus We relate to you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) some information of what happened before. And indeed We have given you from Us a Reminder (this Qur'an)}. (Ta-Ha, 99)

Rewards of Performing Taraweeh

According to Áli ibn Abí Tâlib , when our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked about the virtue of the Tárawíh and the reward for doing them, he said :

1ST NIGHT
Almighty Allah forgives all the sins of a mu'min.

2nd NIGHT
Your sins including your mu'min parents sins are forgiven.

3rd NIGHT
Below the Arsh-Allah's throne there an angel proclaims,"O, MU'MIN make good deeds with sincerity, Allah has forgiven your past sins"

4th NIGHT
You are awarded the sawaab of reading Thaurat, Injeel, Zaboor and the Quraan Majid.

5th NIGHT

The Virtues of Hijab

1.An act of obedience.

The hijab is an act of obedience to Allah and to his prophet (pbuh), Allah says in the Qur'an: `It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His messenger have decreed a matter that they should have an option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed strayed in a plain error.' (S33:36).

Allah also said: 'And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things) and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc) and not to show off their adornment except what must (ordinarily) appear thereof, that they should draw their veils over their Juyubihinna.'(S24:31).

Juyubihinna: The respected scholars from As-Salaf As-Saleh (righteous predecessors) differed whether the veil cover of the body must include the hands and face or not. Today, respected scholars say that the hands and face must be covered. Other respected scholars say it is preferable for women to cover their whole bodies.

2.The Hijab is IFFAH (Modesty).

Allah (subhana wa'atala) made the adherence to the hijab a manifestation for chastity and modesty. Allah says: 'O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) over their bodies (when outdoors). That is most convenient that they should be known and not molested.' (S33:59). In the above Ayaah there is an evidence that the recognition of the apparent beauty of the woman is harmful to her. When the cause of attraction ends, the restriction is removed. This is illustrated in the case of elderly women who may have lost every aspect of attraction. Allah (swt) made it permissible for them to lay aside their outer garments and expose their faces and hands reminding, however, that is still better for them to keep their modesty.

3.The hijab is Tahara (Purity)

Allah (swt) had shown us the hikma (wisdom) behind the legislation of the hijab: `And when you ask them (the Prophet's wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen, that is purer for your hearts and their hearts.' (S33:53).

The hijab makes for greater purity for the hearts of believing men and women because it screens against the desire of the heart. Without the hijab, the heart may or may not desire. That is why the heart is more pure when the sight is blocked (by hijab) and thus the prevention of fitna (evil actions is very much manifested. The hijab cuts off the ill thoughts and the greed of the sick hearts:

`Be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy or evil desire for adultery, etc) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner.' (S33:32)

4.The hijab is a Shield

The prophet (pbuh) said: "Allah, Most High, is Heaven, is Ha'yeii (Bashful), Sit'teer (Shielder). He loves Haya' (Bashfulness) and Sitr (Shielding; Covering)." The Prophet (pbuh) also said: "Any woman who takes off her clothes in other than her husband's house (to show off for unlawful purposes), has broken Allah's shield upon her. "The hadith demonstrates that depending upon the kind of action committed there will be either reward (if good) or punishment (if bad).

5. The hijab is Taqwah (Righteousness)

Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an: `O children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc) and as an adornment. But the raiment of righteousness, that is better.'(S7:26). The widespread forms of dresses in the world today are mostly for show off and hardly taken as a cover and shield of the woman's body. To the believing women, however the purpose is to safeguard their bodies and cover their private parts as a manifestation of the order of Allah. It is an act of Taqwah (righteousness).

6.The hijab is Eemaan (Belief or Faith)

Allah (swt) did not address His words about the hijab except to the believing women, Al-Mo'minat. In many cases in the Qur'an Allah refers to the "the believing women". Aisha (RA), the wife of the prophet (pbuh), addressed some women from the tribe of Banu Tameem who came to visit her and had light clothes on them, they were improperly dressed: "If indeed you are believing women, then truly this is not the dress of the believing women, and if you are not believing women, then enjoy it."

7. The hijab is Haya' (Bashfulness)

There are two authentic hadith which state: "Each religion has a morality and the morality of Islam is haya'" AND "Bashfulness is from belief, and belief is in Al-Jannah (paradise)". The hijab fits the natural bashfulness which is a part of the nature of women.

8.The hijab is Gheerah

The hijab fits the natural feeling of Gheerah, which is intrinsic in the straight man who does not like people to look at his wife or daughters. Gheerah is a driving emotion that drives the straight man to safeguard women who are related to him from strangers. The straight MUSLIM man has Gheerah for ALL MUSLIM women In response to lust and desire, men look (with desire) at other women while they do not mind that other men do the same to their wives or daughters. The mixing of sexes and absence of hijab destroys the Gheera in men. Islam considers Gheerah an integral part of faith. The dignity of the wife or daughter or any other Muslim woman must be highly respected and defended.
